Mardi Gras Celebration & Mother of All Ascensions Race

February 12th, 2013

Snowmass Mardi Gras Parade & Celebration

Produced in association with Jazz Aspen Snowmass

Snowmass celebrates 31 years of Fat Tuesday revelry with the biggest Mardi Gras bash in the mountains. From free mask-making for kids at the Treehouse to a midafternoon madcap parade to a free Henry Butler Trio concert, this authentic fete offers Cajun fun for every age.

Henry Butler is widely hailed as a pianist and vocalist – both as a solo artist and with a variety of groups and is considered by many to be the premier exponent of the great New Orleans jazz and blues piano tradition. Born blind in New Orleans, Henry’s musical talent was recognized almost immediately and by age 12, was performing regularly.  Since then, he has performed with well known musicians from all over, releasing numerous albums. The Henry Butler Trio is guaranteed to put on a performance you will not forget!
