Mountain Biking
Mountain Biking and More
It's hard to beat the exhilaration you get from riding your bike, scooter or mountainboard down Snowmass in summer. Miles of trails await novice to expert riders, from gentle roads to challenging single track. More advanced riders can take their bikes up the chairlift for an exciting downhill ride.
Aspen/Snowmass operates two lifts in the summer: The Silver Queen Gondola wisps you up 3,000 ft and 2.5 miles to the top of Aspen Mountain, and the Burlingame lift in Snowmass brings you to the mid-mountain area. From either landing zone there are a plethora of trails to choose from in which to descend the mountain.
Bike rentals are available at stores on the Snowmass Village Mall. Snowmass Sports: 970-923-3567, Aspen Sports: 970-923-6111.
Lift tickets are required, but there is no extra charge for the bike.
Do's and Don'ts:
Do: Wear closed-toe shoes.
Do: Bring sunglasses, windbreaker and a helmet (required).
Don't: Forget your wallet -- the Burlingame Lift costs $10, kids under 6 and seniors over 70 are free.
