The careful viewer can spot signs of the impending color change. With favorable weather conditions, the color should begin to intensify during the week or so. With luck from the weather, there could be good color into the second week of October, or past, in some areas. April 4, 2008 - 12:13pm Guiding http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/grskier/guiding Well it's been an interesting few weeks and I'm behind in blogging. A few weeks ago I had a friend and my sister in town and got to guide them around. Showing stashes, favorite chutes, and generally trying to show them a good time. What I noticed is how many lines we've learned just this year, however, I also noticed how much terrain we really have that we don't explore nearly enough. I guess the point is get out there and be adventurous. March 12, 2008 - 7:16pm Impressive encounter http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/wendy/impressive-encounter While preparing my team of skiers for another day on the hill I was curious to see a couple walk past me and snap on their "skinny" skate skis. These two were obviously on a mission. Their skins were already mounted as they simply walked out to Fanny Hill, dropped their skis and prepared for their ascent. Since they were standing right next to me I couldn't help to overhear what the man said to his partner before starting off. "Ok last one." This peaked my curiosity even more and begged the question. February 18, 2008 - 12:21pm A few days of warm sun and guess what http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/grskier/a-few-days-of-warm-sun-and-guess-what It's snowing again! 6" reported and it is still dumping. Hope to see you all out there. February 14, 2008 - 9:38am Another amazing weekend at Snowmass http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/grskier/another-amazing-weekend-at-snowmass So, after an amazing week of snow (around 40" last week I believe), the sky cleared once again to award us with another bluebird weekend. The snow Saturday was very fun, with fresh still to be had (we were getting some first tracks until almost noon). Our crew spent time in a few different spots on the mountain this weekend. Saturday was spent skiing a few runs off the Cirque, a few in Rock Island and Burn Side Cliffs, then we headed over to Hanging Valley Head Wall where we took a few laps. February 13, 2008 - 4:18pm Bluebird http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/grskier/bluebird Not every day is like Saturday. Terrain opens, lines are sent, and people inevitably progress... did I mention it was absolutely bluebird! January 30, 2008 - 8:01pm Chili Pepper & Brew Fest 2008 Announces Headliners http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/wendy/chili-pepper-brew-fest-2008-announces-headliners We're all fired up here in Snowmass as the snow continues to fall and we're enjoying an incredible winter filled with glorious snow, sweet turns, great events and fabulous music. February will bring the North Mississippi Allstars to Snowmass and we've just learned that we'll have Dr. John and the Neville Brothers to start off our summer of music in June for the 5th Annual Chili Pepper and Brew Fest! January 28, 2008 - 4:50pm Nitros Report 1/25/08....WHO WON?? TANNER OR SIMON?? http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/nitro/nitros-report-1-25-08 What a first night of Winter X. The lights, the crowd, and the superpipe! If you look real hard at the 2nd hit....you can see GR and I! You will need to hit pause. We were right on the railing of the superpipe. Dumont and Hall flying over our heads. So...much debate over the past 2 years on who should have won. I have my own opinion, but would love to hear yours...who won?? January 25, 2008 - 10:20am Snowmass continues to go off http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/grskier/snowmass-continues-to-go-off I had the privilage to get out the last 5 days on Snowmass with a whole grip of different people. Friday was pretty mellow as the light was flat but there were still pockets of fresh if you knew where to look. I spent the day showing some friends from Taos around a few stashes (which delivered days if not weeks after the storm). Saturday was bluebird in the morning which ment we'd look for some lines. Going out with Dave (of Nitro fame) and Greg made for a good day (look for some shots of Dave and I in the photo gallery) with some fun lines skied. Sunday was more of the same but a January 23, 2008 - 11:05am It seems like it has stopped http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/grskier/its-seems-like-its-stopped But it's only just begun! Well, now that we've gotten our average for January, after a absolutely killer December, sunshine is the name of the game. Snowmass is skiing amazingly right now! There is great coverage in a lot of areas (but be careful dropping bigger stuff, always probe your landings!). January 14, 2008 - 4:35pm Nitros Report 1/8/08 http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/dave/nitros-report-1-8-08 Sunday could have been the best day of skiing in my life. 11 years in Colorado and I have never seen anything like this. More is on the way with about a foot predicting by Thursday. I have found a new line in Rock Island thanks to some High Society guys. I hope you get out and enjoy Snowmass....79" base and counting! December 14, 2007 - 2:40pm What a Weekend! http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/wendy/what-a-weekend This past weekend had to have been one of the best weekends Snowmass has ever seen. The snow conditions are super and the powder is deep. Snow on Thursday night and Friday postponed the Women's World Cup Downhill on Friday and cancelled school for the valley kids. They were able to run the downhill on Saturday just before it started snowing again. Saturday night we kicked off the season with the first Bud Hi FI concert featuring Blues Traveler. And wow what a party and show it was! December 10, 2007 - 7:42am New Snow! http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/wendy/new-snow Summit For Life 07Santa came a little early to the Elk Mountains. His gift, 35" of new snow in the past 48 hours. Both Aspen Mountain and Snowmass are skiing to perfection. And for sure there was thigh deep snow in places on both mountains this weekend. Skied Snowmass yesterday with the family then hiked Aspen Mountain last night for Chris Klug's annual Summit for Life event. It was amazing and there were some strong and fast people hiking last night. Chris is the first athlete ever to win an Olympic medal after successful organ transplant surgery. December 2, 2007 - 4:26pm Nitro's Report 11.29.7 http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/dave/nitros-report-11-29-7 We are close everyone. Today's top to bottom skiing from the Knob was great. Some nice little powder shots off to the sides of the trails from our last storm make it quite an enjoyable day. We are optimistic that this upcoming storm will allow the mountain to open the new terrain park along with....dare I say....the Burn Chair. Check out NOAA weather website to see what we see...it is looking good. Take care and we hope to see you on the Mountain soon. --Nitro November 29, 2007 - 2:48pm Kidz Flix presented by Aspen Film at the Silvertree Hotel http://www.snowmassvillage.com/blog/wendy/kidz-flix-presented-by-aspen-film-at-the-silvertree-hotel Friday, November 23 beginning at 5pm.
