Colorado Freeride on Altitude Sports

I may have not made the cut during the comp, but I made the cut for the show... check it out!

Airing for the first time this Saturday on Altitude Sports at noon, it's going to be a full hour and it came out sick!

Don't miss it.

Guiding

Well it's been an interesting few weeks and I'm behind in blogging.  A few weeks ago I had a friend and my sister in town and got to guide them around.  Showing stashes, favorite chutes, and generally trying to show them a good time.  What I noticed is how many lines we've learned just this year, however, I also noticed how much terrain we really have that we don't explore nearly enough.  I guess the point is get out there and be adventurous.

Impressive encounter

While preparing my team of skiers for another day on the hill I was curious to see a couple walk past me and snap on their "skinny" skate skis. These two were obviously on a mission. Their skins were already mounted as they simply walked out to Fanny Hill, dropped their skis and prepared for their ascent. Since they were standing right next to me I couldn't help to overhear what the man said to his partner before starting off. "Ok last one." This peaked my curiosity even more and begged the question.

A few days of warm sun and guess what

It's snowing again!  6" reported and it is still dumping.  Hope to see you all out there.

Another amazing weekend at Snowmass

So, after an amazing week of snow (around 40" last week I believe), the sky cleared once again to award us with another bluebird weekend.  The snow Saturday was very fun, with fresh still to be had (we were getting some first tracks until almost noon).  Our crew spent time in a few different spots on the mountain this weekend.  Saturday was spent skiing a few runs off the Cirque, a few in Rock Island and Burn Side Cliffs, then we headed over to Hanging Valley Head Wall where we took a few laps.

Bluebird

Not every day is like Saturday. Terrain opens, lines are sent, and people inevitably progress... did I mention it was absolutely bluebird!

Chili Pepper & Brew Fest 2008 Announces Headliners

We're all fired up here in Snowmass as the snow continues to fall and we're enjoying an incredible winter filled with glorious snow, sweet turns, great events and fabulous music. February will bring the North Mississippi Allstars to Snowmass and we've just learned that we'll have Dr. John and the Neville Brothers to start off our summer of music in June for the 5th Annual Chili Pepper and Brew Fest!

Nitros Report 1/25/08....WHO WON?? TANNER OR SIMON??

What a first night of Winter X. The lights, the crowd, and the superpipe! If you look real hard at the 2nd hit....you can see GR and I! You will need to hit pause. We were right on the railing of the superpipe. Dumont and Hall flying over our heads. So...much debate over the past 2 years on who should have won. I have my own opinion, but would love to hear yours...who won??

Snowmass continues to go off

I had the privilage to get out the last 5 days on Snowmass with a whole grip of different people.  Friday was pretty mellow as the light was flat but there were still pockets of fresh if you knew where to look.  I spent the day showing some friends from Taos around a few stashes (which delivered days if not weeks after the storm).  Saturday was bluebird in the morning which ment we'd look for some lines.  Going out with Dave (of Nitro fame) and Greg made for a good day (look for some shots of Dave and I in the photo gallery) with some fun lines skied.  Sunday was more of the same but a

It seems like it has stopped

But it's only just begun!

Well, now that we've gotten our average for January, after a absolutely killer December, sunshine is the name of the game. Snowmass is skiing amazingly right now! There is great coverage in a lot of areas (but be careful dropping bigger stuff, always probe your landings!).
